Over twenty years ago, I had the fortune and pleasure of completing a Foundation Photography Diploma at Filton College, Bristol, in 2005. My final body of work, which I presented at the end-of-year exhibition, was titled Bristol Zones and featured places associated with prominent figures from Bristol’s past.
I was (and still am) an avid fan of alternative photographic techniques, having enjoyed working with pinholes and photograms throughout the course. I decided to create the photographs using zone plates—a process similar to pinhole photography, but with a softer, more diffused focus.
For the first time since that exhibition, Bristol Zones will be displayed at The Circular ArtSpace gallery. The gallery is located in a refurbished double-decker bus in a yard in Fishponds, Bristol, and the exhibition will run throughout March 2026.
