An updated image from European Ferries influenced by a walk with my sons. I normally visit a location several times to get a fully realised photograph. Ferry times, weather, tide times and gaining access are all aspects that have been considered. Fortunately Newhaven is the closest location so a return visit didn't smart to much.
The Newhaven to Dieppe ferry route was fully established in 1853 after civil unrest in France hindered the early years of the service. It is currently run by the subsidised French company Transmanche Ferries who took over the service in 2001 to prevent closure. Dialogue between Newhaven Council and The French Directors of Newhaven Port and Properties Ltd (NPP) regarding the closure of the once-popular West Beach on the grounds of safety concerns has continued since 2001.
